Adlershot 20th April

Adlershot 20th April Race report from Scott Adderson.

OK, small meeting on Sunday for those of us that were not able to get up to Skipton for one reason or another, although we shared the meeting with people practising for the following week's TC National so we had 12 heats and 1 1/2-hour rounds for the first time in ages.

We had six runners with Chris out with the Superbike for the first time, Dave trying a 15.5 540-can Mtroniks BL and Matt out with his slightly calmer 4500kV motor.

We were first heat out, so the track was very slippery to start with requiring a full wet set-up and even then it was tricky. The second round was better and we were all on full dry set-up for the third in bright sunshine and back to more normal lap-times although there was a variety of brain fade, mechanical and electronic glitches going on.

Matt was upset after having taken TQ that race control announced a 4th round of quallies for the visiting TC guys to give them more track time for next weeks' BRCA TC national. Jev promptly took advantage of that and took TQ with the only 13-lapper, with Scott only a fraction behind Matt's time to lay down the challenge for the final.

Dave's run with the 15.5 BL motor ended on the third round, with the motor not having enough torque to pull the necessary gearing to be competitive on speed against Scott's stocker. Based on this test, we think you'd want either a 15.5 small-can motor (Colin has previously said the 13.5 small can is too fast) or the 13.5 large-can for Supersport on the GenRide - comments from anyone who's tested either welcome.

In the final, Jev and Matt got off to a good start with Scott not far behind while Dave was taking it easy with his 5.5 SB motor in his set-for-stock chassis.

At about half-distance, Jev and Matt tangled while having a fairing-banging battle, letting Scott through into the lead, which he held onto until the final lap when Jev had caught back up and out-dragged him down the main straight, taking the win by only a few feet on the line. Matt made a small mistake on the penultimate lap and had to be content with 3rd but did have bragging rights over Scott for out-qualifying him!

Full results for the meeting are not yet on the Aldershot club site, full times and positions etc should be on there in the next few days.
